Your First Visit at Stickney Dental
We view your initial appointment as the foundation of a lasting partnership in your oral health. During this important visit, we take time to listen to your concerns, review your dental and medical history, and perform a thorough evaluation using the latest technology. Our relaxed, welcoming atmosphere ensures that you never feel rushed, and every step is explained so you feel confident in your care.
Step 1: Your Appointment
Upon your arrival, our welcoming team will be ready to assist you with check-in, notifying your oral health team of your arrival, and verifying insurance if applicable. To save time, we recommend completing any new patient forms sent in your appointment confirmation email before you arrive.
Afterward, a friendly team member will escort you from the waiting room to a private treatment room. During your visit, our dental team will review your dental and medical history and discuss any dental health concerns or issues you may have. To further assess your oral health, our dental assistant will take X-rays to examine the jaw’s structure, teeth position, and tooth condition.
Step 2: Your Exam
Once you’re settled in a treatment room, a team member will review your dental and medical history and any concerns you may have. We use advanced dental technology such as intraoral cameras to provide a 3-D video tour of your teeth and jaw structure, allowing us to make more accurate diagnoses and provide personalized treatment plans.
During your comprehensive exam, we will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth, and take x-rays to assess your overall oral health. Our goal is to help you achieve your dental goals while ensuring your comfort and satisfaction. After the exam, we will review our findings with you and discuss recommended treatments and procedures.
Step 3: Your Hygiene Visit
During your first visit at Stickney Dental, Dr. Stickney will complete a comprehensive exam of your teeth, gums, and mouth, along with any necessary X-rays. This assessment allows him to determine the appropriate type of cleaning and overall treatment plan for your specific oral health needs.
Cleanings are generally scheduled for a follow-up appointment once your exam is complete. This ensures that the hygienist provides the right level of care, whether it’s a routine cleaning or a more advanced periodontal treatment, based on the doctor’s recommendations. When you return for your hygiene visit, your dental hygienist will also perform an oral cancer screening, evaluate the health of your gums, and provide tips to maintain strong oral health at home.
New Patient Forms
To prepare for your upcoming appointment, Stickney Dental provides our patient forms online. Completing forms before your visit will also help ensure timely check-in for your appointment. If you are unable to print and complete the forms, we ask that you arrive for your appointment 15 minutes early, so you may complete them in the office.
